Why Buy A Bed Frame or Bed Rails From Us

When I started my online store in 2000, I didn’t have much competition. No one was selling full to queen converter rails, low profile bed frames, or heavy duty bed frames online or even in stores. For many years, I maintained a niche, offering products that customers couldn’t find anywhere else.  Today, customers have many more choices for buying a new specialty bed frame or bed rails. Why buy a bed frame or bed rails from us?

Our Packaging Shows We Care

Our packages don’t look pretty, but we carefully package nearly every order in our warehouse in Hudson, NC.* Though constructed of angle-iron steel, bed frames and bed rails are no match for hurried delivery drivers or conveyor belts that sling packages from one destination to another. We consulted packaging experts to find the most cost effective way to protect our bed frames and rails. We decided on white pallet edging as the best way to protect our bed rails and frames. For less than $3.50 a package,  avoid bent hooks and damaged bed rails and lost hardware (most of the time!)**. While it costs more in time and labor on our end, it saves frustration on your end!   buy a bed frame

Buy a Bed Frame From Us Because We’re Experts

If it’s a bed frame or bed rails, we probably know about it. We’re may be a small company.  Right now, only four employees; but we know a great deal about not only our bed frame products, but also what other suppliers have to offer. I’ve spent eighteen years listening to customers around the country tell me about their bed frame needs, and I’ve chosen products to suit as many needs as possible. I’ve also spent eighteen years honing the details of our website product descriptions to ensure they are complete and accurate. When you buy a bed frame from us, sight unseen, from a store you’ve probably never heard of, you get the product exactly as described on our website. Earning trust on the Internet is something we don’t take lightly.

*Some orders are drop shipped from trusted suppliers.
**Unfortunately, edging won’t protect every order. Though damages have been reduced about 80% because of our commitment to packaging, it isn’t foolproof. The nature of shipping large, bulky bed frames and rails works against us despite our best efforts. If your item gets damaged (and is unusable) in transit, we’ll send a replacement.

The Four Most Important Tips For Mattress Maintenance

All you have to do is put your mattress on the floor, and sleep on it. There’s nothing complicated about mattress maintenance. Right?

Unfortunately, this is not the case.  A key part of your health, your mattress requires a bit of maintenance to prevent the breakdown of its components. When the components break down, your sleep may be disrupted. Disrupted sleep leads to sleep deficiency, that can lead to headaches, memory problems, and weight gain.

If you want to get the most out of your mattress and get the highest quality sleep possible, here are four tips for proper mattress maintenance.

Get a Good Box Spring

There are tons of different bedding accessories online, but the most important of these sleep accessories is arguably a good box spring, which can be as important as a good mattress is. These sleep accessories act like a giant shock absorber, taking much of the nightly wear and tear you put on your mattress, improving comfort and support. We recommend a box spring or foundation with steel components inside as these are less likely to squeak over time.

A Proper Bed Frame is Essential

To maintain your mattress, get a box spring bed frame, too, which can accommodate both a mattress and a box spring. Make sure the bed frame has the center support recommended by the mattress warranty. Center supports are also sold separately online if you already have a bed frame or wood bed rails.

Flip and Rotate Your Mattress

Not only is it wise to get more sleep accessories and bedding online, but you also need to do some maintenance on your mattress, too. Think about it like this: if you sleep about eight hours a night, you’re racking up 3,000 hours per year on your mattress. If you sleep in the same position, on the same spot, you’re going to wear that particular part of the mattress out quickly. Most of today’s mattresses are one-sided so you can’t flip them over, but still you can rotate them head to foot. We recommend rotating your mattress every two weeks during the “break-in” period, the first 3 months of owning a new mattress.  Rotate the mattress with the seasons thereafter.  If you have a two-sided mattress, both flip and rotate it every other month to ensure that the wear and tear is evenly distributed.

Mattress Maintenance Requires a Stainproof Mattress Protector

Stains void your mattress warranty, but that’s not the only reason to get a quality mattress protector. One of the main reasons that mattresses break down is moisture. If a mattress isn’t protected by a good moisture barrier, moisture gets into the foams, the true comfort layers of the mattress. This causes the foams to break down more quickly. Always protect a new mattress with a stain and water proof mattress cover.

If you want to get a good night’s sleep, you need to get the appropriate sleep accessories, take care of your mattress, and avoid sitting on it. If you have any questions, or know of any other sleep accessories that can help others, feel free to share in the comments.

Game-Changing Bed Frames by emBrace

Let’s talk about bed frames. How many times do you stub your toe or hit your shin on that rickety, brown, metal frame that’s supporting your luxury mattress? Have your kids stopped jumping on the bed because of all that noise?  We talk a lot about mattress and bedding innovation, but not so much when it comes to bed frames.  That was before seeing the new line of bed frames by emBrace.

Bed Frame of the Future

After decades of settling for the standard bed frames we’ve all come to know and dislike, the emBrace bed frame is changing the game. This revolutionary design features advanced polymer resin over Pennsylvania steel core supports.  It can hold up to 2000 pounds, which means it’s perfect for heavier luxury mattress sets. The emBrace frame is longer than traditional frames and comes closer to the end of the box spring, offering more stable support.

embrace-full-bed-frameFor as long as we can remember, we’ve been covering bed frames with bed skirts. A contemporary design makes the emBrace bed frame something you can actually show off.  Its height makes it easy to clean under the bed. Removing the bed skirt and allowing for easier cleaning are both small changes that will help allergy sufferers feel better almost instantly. The emBrace comes in four colors: black, brown, gray, or white.  This allows you to match the existing design of your room and compliment your style.

embrace-full-bed-frameAs for safety, your toes and shins will thank you! The emBrace doesn’t have any exposed or sharp metal edges, which is especially great for kids’ rooms.  An injection-molded fiberglass-infused resin encases the steel core. The edges are also coated with a soft polymer. This design will also help save all types of floors. This is the same polymer that helps reduce noise by absorbing and muffling the sound of restless sleepers.

If all of these features weren’t enough, the emBrace side rail connectors quickly lock together or come apart without tools. It could take you longer to remove it from the box that it takes for you to put together!  While the innovative design doesn’t allow for you to use risers with it, you can attach a headboard if you choose.

What To Expect From A New Mattress

What to Expect From Your New Mattress

Expect body impressions.

Many of today’s top-quality mattress use extra-plush foams and fibers to create comfort layers designed to cradle your body and relieve pressure. After the first few weeks you sleep on your new mattress with these extra comfort layers, you will likely notice some body impressions. Body impressions are where the mattress has slight indentations where you lie at night, on the surface.

These impressions are normal.

They indicate that the comfort layers are conforming to your body, as they are supposed to do. Body impressions are not sign that something is wrong with your new mattress.

King and queen size beds often develop a hump in the middle of the mattress where no one sleeps.

This is very normal and not considered a defect. Your mattress will naturally remain firmer where you and your partner don’t sleep. If you and your partner do not sleep in the center of your bed, the center will remain firmer than the sides where you sleep. That’s why it is  common for mattresses to develop a hump in the middle. Almost no one sleeps in the middle of the bed!

 FAQ:

I think my body impression is too deep. How do I know if I have a problem?

Here is a diagram depicting what is considered normal, and what is not normal:
body impressionIf your body impression or the entire mattress is sagging more than 1 ½” on an inner spring, or 3/4″ on memory foam, there is a problem. Contact the manufacturer to discuss your options.

How can I stop from developing a deep body impression?

There are a couple things you can do to improve the longevity of your mattress. First make sure to rotate your mattress from head to foot. We recommend doing this every few weeks for the first few months. Then rotate once with the seasons. It is also a good idea to take naps, or snuggle with your family in the center of the bed as frequently as possible. This will allow for even wear of the mattress. Also, make sure you have a solid support system for your bed such as The Bed Beam or the Elm-211.

Although body impressions may be unsightly to some, unless they are deeper than the warranty allows and causing discomfort, they’re harmless to you and your bed.

Tips to Extend the Lifespan of Your Mattress

mattress_imageEvery night, you flop over onto your bed, ready to get whatever amount of sleep you can. Maybe on the weekends you worry that you need to wash and change your sheets, but other than that, you pay your bed no mind.

Unfortunately, you’re making a big mistake. If you like your mattress, and want to get as many years as possible out of it, you need to take care of it. After all, a quality mattress can last as long as 10 years, but that’s only if it’s looked after.

Here are a few tips you can use to extend the lifespan of your mattress.

Rotate Your Mattress

The first and most obvious thing you can do to prolong the lifespan of your mattress, say online bedding shops, is to rotate it. Most people usually sleep in the same spot, in the same position, every night, which can lead to uneven wear and tear on the coils. Online bedding shops say that after a number of years, one side will be worn out while the other is like new, which decreases the support both sides can provide. So, online bedding shops advise you rotate your mattress every two months, and flip it on occasion.

Make Sure You Have a Good Box Spring

Sleep accessories can be as important as a mattress, the box spring and its frame in particular. Box springs act like shock absorbers, and take a lot of the nightly wear and tear, while box springs add further support. You can get pretty good deals on these bedding accessories online.

Clean the Mattress!

Your sheets aren’t the only things you need to wash! Online bedding shops advise that you also clean whatever stains there may be with a mild detergent or soap. Soak a clean cloth in cold water, get it soapy, and have at it. Online bedding shops also advise against using volatile chemical removers, since they could actually damage the mattress.

Who would have thought that rotating your mattress could help extend its lifespan? Or that your bed frame supports the mattress and eases wear and tear? Or even that you had to clean the mattress, too? With these helpful tips from online bedding shops, you can make your mattress last much longer!

Things to Consider When Shopping for Luxury Bed Linens

linensYou can buy all sorts of amazing bedding accessories online, but the best ones are arguably luxury bed sheets. After all, there are few other sleep accessories that will so directly impact the quality of your sleep. No matter how you already sleep, luxury bed linens can make beds unbelievably more comfy, allowing you to get to sleep sooner, get higher quality sleep, and feel more refreshed in the morning.

Like all consumer products though, you need to make a few careful decisions as you shop for luxury bed linens to make sure you’re getting the best ones for your home. Here are a few such considerations you need to take into account.

Linen Thread Count

The first thing you need to think about when buying luxury bed linens is the thread count. Although it is not good to base your purchase solely on thread count, typically,  the higher it is, the better the sheets are. While there are certainly many factors that affect how comfortable the sheets are, the thread count number is a good rule of thumb to use when determining just how soft the luxury bed linens are.

The Color

Though most think it’s best to just buy sheets whose color simply appeals to them, putting a bit more thought into the color choice can help you find luxury bed linens that will put you even more at ease. Warm colors tend to make people feel more energetic, while cooler colors are more relaxing. Red, orange, and yellow are simply not as relaxing as blues, greens, and violets. You should also considering getting pastel or earthy hues, which are more subtle, muted, and even more relaxing.

The Size of Your Bed

Perhaps the most obvious thing to pay attention to when buying bed linens is that they actually fit your bed. Though it shouldn’t need to be said, it still bears reminding that shoppers make sure they have king, queen, double, or single bed sheets that will fit their king, queen, double, or single mattress.

Luxury bed linens can help any sleeper get a better night’s rest by making beds feel much more comfortable, just so long as they have a high thread count, are the right color, and fit the bed properly.

Three of the Most Common Problems That Affect Sleep

Unfortunately, about 40% of Americans don’t get the necessary 8.5 hours of sleep, which can result in such problems as faulty memories, lack of attention, and even increased risk of contracting certain diseases. Sleep problems have become so problematic that they now cost the nation about $15.9 billion in health care.

While some of these people can’t get enough sleep because of certain habits and schedules, many people aren’t getting the necessary amounts of sleep because of certain physical ailments.

Luckily, there are several sleep accessories that can help. Here are a few of the most common, physical problems, and the things that can help people overcome them.

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is one of the more serious sleep disorders, and causes people to stop breathing when they sleep. Common symptoms of sleep apnea are a loud snore, and daytime tiredness. If you suspect you have sleep apnea, talk to your doctor about which sleep accessories may work best for you. Some people might not need to be too concerned just yet, but others may have to start using certain wearable sleep accessories like a mask.

Acid Reflux

Acid reflux is a common, gastroesophageal ailment that causes a person’s stomach acid to flow back into their esophagus. Naturally, this backwash is quite painful and bothersome, and can often interrupt a person’s sleep. Luckily, there are a couple sleep accessories that can help. An acid reflux wedge is a wedge shaped pillow that can prop a person up when they sleep, so that gravity can help keep a person’s stomach acid in their stomach. Deluxe bed risers also use the same principle. They’re put underneath standard bed frame feet, which then put the whole bed on an incline.

Restless Leg Syndrome

People who have restless leg syndrome feel an unpleasant sensation in their legs when they go to lie down, which prompts them to move their legs around to make them feel better. This movement then makes it difficult for a person to fall asleep. Thankfully, there are several ways to deal with restless leg syndrome. Afflicted sleepers can try exercise, medications, vitamins, or even sleep accessories like a warm compress.

If you’re not getting enough sleep, you may want to talk to your doctor to figure out what problem you may be having. Only then can you figure out which sleep accessories will be able to help you at night.

Box Spring frames are designed to accommodate both a mattress and a box spring. The average life span of a quality mattress is eight to ten years. If you sleep eight hours a night, in one year you’ll rack up 3000 hours on your mattress. Sleep problems add an estimated $15.9 billion to national health care costs. The promotion of good sleep habits and regular sleep is known as sleep hygiene.
