Dreamfit Sheets Review

Recently, I had the opportunity to try out DreamFit sheets. Now, I know what you’re thinking.  “This is not an honest review. That company sent her something so that she would write this review.”  While that type of thing does go on all the time, this is actually a 100% honest review. We’ve sold these sheets for years at our store and I’ve just never brought any home. Until now. And, oh, how my life has changed.

I tried the microfiber sheets first, they were pretty awesome but they didn’t make me loyal to the DreamFit brand. Then, I tried the Degree 4 cotton sheets. I can’t even believe what I was missing. So, on to the review:

Microfiber Sheets

If you’ve ever tried microfiber before I can almost guarantee these aren’t what you’re thinking. I purchased a set of microfiber sheets from Wal-Mart and felt like a DJ in my bed all night. Every time I would move it sounded like scratches on a turntable.

The DreamFit microfiber sheets were very silky and soft.  And obviously the band on the bottom of the sheet was a true dream come true. No more snapping and popping and fighting and fussing with my bottom sheet! I could hear the hallelujah chorus in the background. Here’s a picture of those heaven sent bands.

Like I said, those alone didn’t make me a loyal fan. They pilled a little where your feet go and they sleep very hot. These are not, I repeat not, summer sheets.

Egyptian Cotton Sheets

However, the Egyptian cotton ones changed my life. I actually have not one bad thing to say about them.  The only thing I can think of is this: If you have a very thin mattress you’ll have a bit of excess sheet.  These are made for thicker beds and so that they wont pop off.  If you have a thin mattress and like a tight fitting sheet, these aren’t so good for that.  That being said these are the most luxurious, softest, lovely sheet I’ve ever had the pleasure of sleeping in. They don’t pill WHATSOEVER.  The Egyptian cotton sheets come in and 4 degree. They come in multiple colors and also these sheets are made in America! (However, the cotton is imported as the name “Egyptian cotton” would imply.)

Protect your floors!

There’s nothing more unsightly than a scratched up hardwood floor. If you have rollers or casters on your bed frame, you may end up with very scratched hardwood floors.

protect your floors

But I’m here to tell you, life doesn’t have to be this way. You can protect your hardwood floor for as long as you have it.  Whether you have wheels or glides.

Protect Your Floors
Large Castor Cups

Why we like Slipstick Large Caster Cups

  • The large caster cups keep your bed frame in place.
  • Caster cups protect hardwood floors, tile, laminated flooring, parquet floors, and slate floors from being scratched by your bed frame wheels or castors.
  • Will support up to 250kg (550lb) per cup.

We have many options. Protectors for carpet, for hard wood. For feet and for wheels!

Knickerbocker Eventide Bed Frame

When I first saw this Eventide frame I just wasn’t sure what to think of it.  It was a box of metal and plastic brown parts with what looked like giant cocoa puffs sitting in the mix.

The Eventide Bed FrameMy co-worker and I were given an assignment to put it together and see what we think of it and decide if we want to keep selling it. The entire staff ended up pitching in and we had a blast.

Now, I already know your first question. Is it worth the $239 we sell it for on our website? Yes! And most websites, especially big box stores, are charging up to $200 more.

My Thoughts on the Eventide Bed Frame by Knickerbocker

So, here’s an honest review of Knickerbocker’s Eventide bed frame:

Here’s why:  It has an extremely modern, aesthetically pleasing appearance.  To me personally the legs do sort of look like giant cocoa puffs, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Trust me when I say it’s a great conversation piece. This is what the wheel looks like:

The positive features of the bed frame

It fits all sizes! You can put it in a guest bed where bed sizing may change from time to time, or buy it for your son/daughter and adjust it as they grow.

It’s sturdy! It’s great for heavier weight limits, up to 2000 lbs!

No sharp edges. When you add the polyurethane encasement to each side of the frame, there are no sharp edges on this frame, making it a safe choice for diabetics.

It’s so easy to move! This is great for people who re-arrange a lot or people who like to get under the bed area for cleaning. In our store, we were able to move the entire frame with a mattress set (and one of co-workers) with a simple glide. (This might be considered a negative feature for some, see below.

Things you might not like about the Eventide Bed Frame

Since this is an honest review here are the cons: It was a little difficult to snap the plastic encasement on to the frame. We all gave it a good go, struggled quite a few minutes and then finally one of our male co-workers snapped it on.  It takes a pretty firm hand.

It would be kind of difficult to put together completely on your own.  I’m not by any means saying it’s impossible, but you may get frustrated and walk away a few times.

It’s very easy to slide! This is great for the movers and cleaners, but for a child or the elderly it may not be a perfect option.

I hope this review helps you make a decision! If you’re looking for an even more sturdy and easy to assemble frame try the Embrace! It’s amazing!! If I’m honest, I like it a little better but the Eventide is still awesome!

Hate Your Newly Purchased Mattress?

Yikes!! You just spent over a thousand dollars on your new mattress and you hate it!

Now what? Well, if you’re anything like me, you certainly don’t have another 1000+ dollars sitting in the bank to purchase a new mattress when you just bought one. Hopefully these tips can help make everything all better.

  1. First,  give it a week or two.  When you spend 7 – 8 hours every night on one surface and then suddenly change, sometimes you need to give a new mattress a chance.  It’s very common especially with memory foam not to love it automatically.
  2. If you still can’t make peace with it, check the mattress store policy. In North Carolina we can’t accept returns due to our laws. However, in some states they are allowed to take returns and re-sell them. Also, certain Serta mattresses (and a few other brands, I’m sure) offer their own specific comfort guarantee.
  3. Is it sagging already? Unless they also run a bed frame shop, most mattress stores don’t stress the importance of a center support. If you don’t have a center support with at least one leg to the floor, this can lead to sagging which makes a mattress unnecessarily uncomfortable. I even suggest getting two to three.  The more the better.  The Bed Beam System and ELM-211  are two of our customers’ favorites. You just might actually love your mattress once it’s properly supported!
  4. Is your new mattress too firm? First try taking off your shoes and walking (or lightly bouncing) on the mattress. A lot of times the mattress you get in your home will be slightly firmer. This is because the floor model in the store has been tested from 3 months to 2 years before you came along and gave it a try. Still not doing the trick? Try adding a nice a soft, luxurious mattress topper to soften it up. A lot of our customers love the feeling of a firm mattress and a padded topper and purchase the combo intentionally.
  5. Too soft? This is one of the areas where is might be better off trying to sell it too someone you know or online. You could try purchasing a really foam memory foam topper but other than that, it’s hard to fix this problem.
