How Converter Rails Work:

  • Converter rails accommodate the WIDTH OF QUEEN BEDDING: The rails use 4 durable "L" brackets to accommodate the extra width of a queen size mattress! Click for picture.
    L-brackets are bolted onto the bed side-rails, which allow for the extra width of queen size bedding.
  • Converter rails are the LENGTH OF QUEEN BEDDING: The useable space on our converter rails measures 82" - 83" long to accommodate the length of queen size bedding.
  • Converter rails come with an adjustable height center support leg.
    Adjustable height center support leg adjusts up to 9 inches tall to provide the necessary support for your queen size bedding.

Will the DRCV1L converter rail set work for me?

Our lower profile converter rails fit most beds- even antique ones. The following steps will help you determine if converter rails will work on your bed. Start by taking a look at your full size headboard and footboard. . .

  • STEP 1: Converter rails only work on FULL size beds. Before ordering this item, check your head and footboard. Many beds are designed for both full and queen sizes. If your bed is designed for both sizes, you will find two slotted areas on each side of your headboard and two slotted areas on each side of your footboard. The full size slots will be about 53 - 54 inches apart and the queen size slots will be about 58 - 60 inches apart. If you have slots for queen size, do not order this item. Instead, order queen size bed rails.
  • STEP 2: Take a look at your current bed side rails. Do they appear to hook-on

    The above picture is an example of a typical bolt-on bed rail bracket. Not all bolt-on bed rails will look exactly like this, but all bolt-on bed rails will have some arrangement of holes in which to secure bolts.

Comments: The Full to Queen Converter Rails - Lower Profile would not work on the first antique bed I tried them on. Fortunally, we had another antique bed and they did work on the second bed. Even though I ordered the lower profile converter rails, the new rails are still 14" off the ground. The two adjustable glides on the center brace were not long enough to reach the floor, even with the extension legs that came with the rails attached. Comments: Just what we needed to lower our converted full to queen bed to a height that allowed us to get in it without a running jump. The only hitch was that the extender brackets to hold the box spring in place on the sides would not expand quite wide enough. We were able to use the side brackets from the previous rail conversion kit to solve the problem since they were longer than the ones that came with this set. Comments: I bought these for a antique full bed to queen conversion. Worked perfectly. Only complaint is instructions poorly copied to the point pictures are undecipherable. Directions vague at best. Additionally purchased center rails but bolt holes do not line up and have to be redrilled.

Comments: The converter rails worked very well. I have an antique full size bed that we wanted to use with queen mattresses without altering the headboard and footboard. It seems to have done the trick. We did have to straighten out the hooks a little. I guess they were slightly bent in shipping. Not a big deal.

Comments: Bought these because wanted to convert my antique full size bed to a queen. Bought the lower profile because bed was already high and did not want to make it any higher. I also purchased the extra supports. We bolted them down and I do think needed them to make the bed sturdy enough. The regular converter frame is not as sturdy as the extra supports are. The first set we returned caused our antique poster bed headboard and footboard to lean inward because there was not enough support on the center rail. In addition it made the mattress way too high.
