Size does matter! Make sure to order the right size bed frame. How?
MEASURE YOUR BOX SPRING. This is especially important when you are ordering KING or CALIFORNIA KING size. There IS a difference and it can be confusing. A regular king size bed frame will NOT work for your California king bedding. Bed frames are usually made to work for either king size or California king size, but not both. If you have a KING size box spring, the two pieces together will be approximately 76" wide by 80" long. If you have a CALIFORNIA KING, your box spring will be approximately 72" wide by 84" long.

California king bed frame
When shopping for a California king bed frame to fit your mattress, it is important to first measure your box spring. At The Sleep Shop, our California king frames will fit mattresses that measure about 72 inches wide and 84 inches long. King frames have considerably different measurements, and they will not fit your luxurious mattress. Save yourself time by measuring before you buy.
Once you've measured your box spring, you can move on to the fun part: picking a great frame for your California king mattress set. We offer several styles of frames, including bed rails for use with a headboard and footboard. These rails provide support for your bed by attaching your headboard to your footboard. All of our rails come with the option for hook-on or bolt-on attachments. We also offer low-profile rails for thicker bedding.
Large California king mattress sets often require a heavy-duty frame for proper support. These frames can include up to nine legs. The Monster and Eventide bed frames from Knickerbocker are both highly supportive and adjustable, meaning you can easily upgrade from a twin all the way to a California king.
Another great California king bed frame from Knickerbocker is the emBrace, an innovative frame that can hold up to 2000 pounds. The emBrace is made from strong steel covered in a unique polymer material. This polymer protects your floor from damages, and it protects your legs from bruises.
Like the emBrace, the Edge Bed Frame and Heavy-Duty 9-leg Bed Frame each offer nine legs to help keep your mattress secure. The Heavy-Duty 9-leg frame was originally designed to support a waterbed mattress, so it can hold up to 800 pounds. The Edge Bed Frame is made from strong and attractive tubular steel.
Finally, if your California king bed frame needs even more support, we offer extra center beams and slats. Center beams work well with bed rails that may not offer adequate support for a larger mattress, while slats are great for platform beds, which are made with wooden slats that can bow and break under pressure.
